KENT, Wash. – Soles De Sonora exploded for six goals in the fourth quarter, led by Franck Tayou’s four goal performance, to knock off the Tacoma Stars 10-4 on Saturday night in front of 3,487 Stars fans at the accesso ShoWare Center. Chase Hanson scored twice to lead the way for the Stars, who were shutout in the first half and fell to 2-6 this season.

The first half was a defensive struggle, with Sonora taking a 2-0 lead heading into the locker room behind goals from Victor Quiroz and Tayou. The Stars finally broke through when Vince McCluskey scored with nine minutes gone in the third quarter to make it 4-1. Hanson scored his first goal of the evening with just three seconds left in the third and the Stars were within shouting distance going into the last 15 minutes.

But the Soles scored five straight goals starting with Anibal Echeverria’s goal a minute and a half into the fourth and ending with Erick Rosas’ goal with 5:15 left and Sonora holding a commanding 9-2 lead.  Hanson got one back and Jamael Cox added one more with 1:30 left, but it was too little too late and the Stars dropped their fourth straight game.

Tayou’s four goals give him a 18 this season, good enough for second behind only Milwaukee’s Ian Bennett. He is also second behind Bennett in total points with 20. It was his fifth straight game with at least a hat trick. Juan Gamboa got his second start at keeper and made eight saves on 12 shots on goal. Sonora moved to 2-5 this season with the win.
