Tacoma Stars Path To The Playoffs

by Brett Gleason

The final week of the Major Arena Soccer League has arrived, and the playoff race in the Pacific Division is anything but finished.

When the Tacoma Stars host the Ontario Fury this Friday, Feb. 26, a guaranteed playoff spot will be up for the taking. That’s the simple part – win Friday, and the Stars make the playoffs in their first full season in the league; suffer a loss, and Ontario packs their bags for the playoffs.

The stakes have never been higher, and fan support is going to be crucial to the Stars efforts on Friday night at the ShoWare Center.

There is one additional match that affects the playoff picture, though it only impacts seeding. Friday’s match will most likely be a battle for the No. 3 seed in the Pacific Division, provided the San Diego Sockers beat the Dallas Sidekicks (who have already been eliminated from playoff contention) on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Once the Stars defeat the Fury on Friday, and if the Sidekicks manage a victory over the Sockers on Sunday, Tacoma will be vaulted into the No. 2 seed in the division. The bump in seeding would award the Stars home-field advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.

Earning the No. 3 seed in the division will land the Stars a home playoff game on Wednesday, March 2, while the No. 2 seed would put the Stars at home again on Sunday, March 6. Playoff tickets will go on sale following Tacoma’s match on Friday night.

Friday night is guaranteed to be an electric one with a playoff atmosphere, so grab four or 12 of your best friends and come down to support the Stars! Tickets are available over the phone at 1-844-STARS-TIME or by clicking HERE.
