TACOMA STARS ACQUIRE TAYLOR BOND FROM CEDAR RAPIDS

Tacoma, WA- The Tacoma Stars have announced the acquisition of forward Taylor Bond from the Cedar Rapids Rampage for future considerations. In 52 MASL games, Bond has 107 points (81 goals – 26 assists).

Bond was currently third in scoring on the Rampage roster with 10 goals and six assists through 12 games.

Bond signed a one-year deal with Cedar Rapids following his season with the Chicago Mustangs when he led the team in scoring, netting 40 goals to go with 14 assists.

“Taylor is a player we liked after playing Chicago last year and when he came available, we worked to bring him in,” said Darren Sawatzky, Tacoma Stars Head Coach and General Manager, “Impact players are hard to come by in the MASL and we think Taylor will plug right in to our team.”

The Stars have work to do in terms of the playoff hunt but the addition of Bond gives the team another needed scoring threat after the addition of Nick Perera last week.

“Taylor is a talented player that scores lots of goals. When we heard of his availability we quickly secured his rights before the trade window closed. Taylor will be a great addition as our hunt for a playoff run continues,” said Lane Smith, Tacoma Stars owner.

Stars fans first chance to see Bond in person will be Friday February 2, 2018 when Tacoma hosts the El Paso Coyotes at 7:35 pm.  The Stars travel this Saturday, January 20th to Rio Grand Valley followed by a quick turn around game at Monterrey on January 21st.  Both games will be broadcast live on MASL.tv, streaming home of the Major Arena Soccer League.
