STARS WELCOME TROPICS FOR A TWO GAME SET

Tacoma, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (7-9) welcome the Eastern Conference leading Florida Tropics (15-2) for a pair of games this week which will be the first ever matchups between the two teams. Florida comes into the game a perfect 4-0 against Western Conference teams while the Stars will be looking for their first win against the East in four tries.

The Tropics lead their conference despite not having a player currently in the league’s Top 5 in points or goals. They do, however, have 10 players with 15+ points and a goalkeeper, Hugo Silva, with the MASL’s best goals against average (3.64) and in the Top 5 in save percentage (.717). Ricardo Carvalho leads Florida in scoring with 38 points (17G-21A) and Victor Perreiras (18G-9A), Zach Reget (15G-10A), and Gordy Gurson (8G-13A) all have more than 20 points this season.

Tacoma is led in scoring by Nick Perera with 38 points on 19 goals and 19 assists. The team leader in goals is Mike Ramos with 25 through 16 games. He also has 12 assists which puts him second on the squad in offensive production. Alex Caceres (8G-10A) and Alessandro Canale (3G-7A) round out Tacoma’s top point producers.In goal for the Stars, Danny Waltman brings a 6.06 goals against average, .640 save percentage, and 7-9 record into the games against Florida.

Thursday marks the first of two $1,000 Ball Toss Thursdays of the season and the first prize in the team’s nightly ball toss contest will be $1.000 cash, courtesy of Doxon Toyota of Auburn and Center Collision. It is also San Juan Seltzer Night and fans 21 years of age and up can enjoy $5 San Juan Seltzers at the accesso ShoWare Center.

The teams will play Thursday with a 7:35 pm kickoff followed by a rematch on Sunday starting at 5:05 pm.
