TACOMA, WA. – The Stars (0-1) will look to rebound from their Opening Night loss to the San Diego Sockers this Saturday when the Dallas Sidekicks (0-2) make their only appearance at the accesso ShoWare Center this season for Tacoma’s Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game to benefit Toys-for-Tots and the Salvation Army.

The teams last met in Kent during the 2018-19 season with each team winning one game. The Stars won 9-6 on December 7, 2018, and Dallas picked up a 5-4 victory on February 24, 2019. The last four meetings between the teams have taken place in Texas.

With one game in the books, Jamael Cox (2G-1A) and Vini Dantas (2G-1A) lead the Stars in scoring with three points each. Nick Perera (1G-1A) and DeBray Hollimon (0G-2A) each had multi-point games vs San Diego.

In goal, Danny Waltman had several big saves throughout the game to keep it close until the final minutes. He finished with nine saves. Waltman does have a goal scored against the Sidekicks. He found the back of the net during Tacoma’s 7-4 win in Dallas on April 16, 2019. For the all-time series, Mike Ramos leads all goal scorers against the Sidekicks with 10 goals.

Dallas comes to town following a pair of home losses to start the 2021-22 campaign, an 8-4 Opening Night loss to St. Louis, and a 6-4 decision to Kansas City on December 11. Luiz Morales (3G-1A), Felipe De Sousa (2G-1A), and David Ortiz (0G-3A) are the only Sidekicks with multiple points after the first two games of their schedule.

Juan Gamboa and Estevan Vazquez have each started a game in goal for Dallas, with 17 and four saves respectfully. Both Dallas keepers post a 0-1 record, Gamboa with a 5.82 GAA and Vazquez a 10.00 average. This will be the first of six meetings between the Stars and Sockers. The teams split their regular-season series at a game apiece last season, but San Diego holds a 19-4 advantage in all-time regular-season matchups.
