TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Stars (9-7) return home to the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington to take on the St. Louis Ambush (1-16) this Sunday, Feb. 12.

The festivities will begin prior to the match with a ceremonial first kick from Seattle Sounders Head Coach and former Stars player, Brian Schmetzer. Sunday will also serve as the club’s annual Military Appreciation Night, where the evening’s events will be dedicated to the men and women who serve our country.

Tacoma enters the match looking for a win as the Major Arena Soccer League playoff push heats up down the final stretch of the regular season. Sitting just behind the San Diego Sockers, the Stars currently hold sole possession of the Pacific Division’s second and final playoff spot if the season ended today.

While Sunday will mark the first meeting between the two clubs this season, Tacoma went 2-0 against St. Louis last year on an aggregate score of 18-10.

With a pair of points on the road in Dallas last weekend, midfielder Micheal Ramos took the team lead on offense with a total of 21 points this season. Forwards Alex Megson and Dan Antoniuk clock in with 20 points each, while midfielder Derek Johnson continues to pace the club with 15 goals. Through 16 games, goalkeeper Danny Waltman has contributed 220 saves on 315 shots, good for a .698 save percentage.

St. Louis enters the match currently riding a five-game losing streak, and at 1-16 on the year have been eliminated from playoff contention. The club’s -59 goal differential is the second worst mark in the league, accumulated by allowing an average of 7.7 goals per game while averaging just 4.2 on offense.

Ambush points leader, midfielder Victor France, has tallied 14 points this season on nine goals and five assists. Defender Chris Mattingly leads the league with 45 blocks along the back line in assistance of primary goalkeeper Casey Clark, who has thrown down 171 saves on 259 shots over nearly 700:00 minutes in goal.
