by Brett Gleason

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Stars (5-2) leave the Pacific Northwest for a pair of games against the Missouri Comets (7-1) and the St. Louis Ambush (0-5) this weekend - Tacoma will visit Missouri on Friday, Dec. 11 and St. Louis on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Stars goalkeeper Danny Waltman, who played with the Comets for the last five seasons, faces off against his former club for the first and only time this year. Waltman currently ranks among the top five in the Major Arena Soccer League in goals against average (second, 3.71), minutes (T-second, 420:00), and wins (T-second, 5).

Tacoma split a doubleheader against the Dallas Sidekicks last weekend, taking the first match 4-3 and falling in the rematch 6-2. Stars defender Adam West was named to the MASL Team of the Week for week seven after posting a brace in the first game against Dallas.

Missouri is led by the trio of midfielder Vahid Assadpour and forwards Leo Gibson and Ramone Palmer, who all rank in the top five in the MASL in points scored. The Comets have five players who have double-digit point totals while the offense has averaged 8.9 goals per game, the second best mark in the league. Comets goalkeeper Boris Pardo’s goals against average mark of 4.35 is the fourth best in the circuit.

Missouri’s 7-6 shootout loss to the Milwaukee Wave last weekend was the club’s first of the season, and snapped a 32-game regular season winning streak for the Comets that began 22 months ago.

St. Louis forwards Gordy Gurson and Odaine Sinclair lead the Ambush with seven points each, while Gurson’s six goals lead the club. St. Louis’ goal differential of -21 is the second worst mark in the MASL, and the team is one of only three winless club’s left in the league.

The Friday and Saturday matches are scheduled to kick off at 5:35 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. PT, respectively. Live webcasts of the games can be found online at www.golivesportscast.com.
