STARS SOCKED BY SAN DIEGO 10-3 AT HOME

Kent, WA- The Tacoma Stars (8-10) wrapped up their season series with the San Diego Sockers (13-3) and were swept, this time by a 10-3 final in front of 2,694 fans on Military Appreciation Night at the Accesso ShoWare Center.

After a close first quarter which ended with a 1-0 San Diego lead on Brian Farber’s first goal of the game, the flood gates opened for the Sockers. Farber, Erick Tovar, Brandon Escoto, and Kraig Chiles all scored for San Diego to build a 5-0 lead with 6:06 left in the first half. Taylor Walter Bond knocked one in for Tacoma with 1:22 on the clock to make it 5-1. Chiles picked up his second of the match with just 21.1 seconds remaining in the half for a 6-1 San Diego lead.

After Sockers goals from Luan Oliveira and Tovar, Jamael Cox scored three seconds in to a Stars power play and it was 8-2 Sockers with 4:58 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Bond opened scoring for Tacoma in the 4th to cut San Diego’s lead to five before Chiles completed his hat trick and Escoto added another to reach the 10-3 final.

The Stars are on the road next week for games in Ontario on Thursday and Turlock Friday. They return home Friday February 23 to host the Ontario Fury at 7:35 pm.
