STARS SIGN WALTMAN TO TWO-YEAR DEAL

by Tony Roberts

TACOMA, WA – The Tacoma Stars announced Friday they have signed goalkeeper Danny Waltman to a two-year contract extension. In 2017-18 Waltman posted a 11-9-2 regular season record with a 5.88 GAA to help push the Stars to a post-season appearance. He finished in the MASL Top 10 in both GAA and wins as the backbone to Tacoma’s defense. With Waltman returning in goal, Stars Head Coach Darren Sawatzky will look to expand on last season’s play-off berth.

"Danny has been an absolute wall for us the past three years and he has helped me with the indoor game as well as been a leader in our locker room. Anytime you can secure one of the top goalkeepers in the MASL, you do it. Danny has great character and he is a character who helps unite a locker room on and off the field. We will look to take next season farther than the first round of the playoffs and he is a key component in that hunt" Sawatzky said.

Waltman has appeared in 88 games in his MASL career with a 54-32-2 overall record while amassing 1,067 saves. He also has one goal scored and three assists to his credit.
