STARS RESERVES TOP BELLINGHAM UNITED 10-6 IN OPENER

BELLINGHAM, WA – The Tacoma Stars Reserves opened their 2022-23 Western Indoor Soccer League schedule Saturday night at the Bellingham Sportsplex and despite traveling with only five players with indoor soccer experience, defeated Bellingham United by a 10-6 final. 10 different Reserves players found their way onto the score sheet led by Felipe Souza’s three goals and an assist. Gil De La Luz also recorded a hat-trick in the win.

Tacoma found themselves trailing 3-1 in the second quarter but went on a run, finding the back of the net five more times to take a lead they never relinquished. Bellingham is one of the tougher venues for road teams and Reserves Head Coach Adam Becker was impressed with how his overall inexperienced team responded.

“I’m happy with the result last night. We took a very young team with little to no indoor experience yet. (For) most of the team it was their first indoor game in a very difficult environment. We went down early, trailing 3-1 in the second quarter. We finally woke up and scored five unanswered goals. I was very pleased with how the team stuck together and battled back to earn three points on the road,” Becker said.

The Reserves will kick off their home schedule on Saturday, November 19 against Everett City at the Tacoma Soccer Center. Doors will open at 6 pm for the 7 pm kick-off. Tickets are available online at www.tacomastars.com/stars-reserves or at the Tacoma Soccer Center.
