Defense:

Mike Arguello & Luis Birrueta (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – The Tacoma Stars Reserves registered the fourth shutout in league history thanks to the goalkeeping of Mike Arguello and Luis Birrueta, who split time in their 7-0 win over Everett City on Saturday night. Longtime Tacoma Stars keeper Arguello got the start in goal and kept Everett off the board in a half that saw neither team score a goal. Then it was Yakima’s Birrueta’s turn and he also stopped Everett while his offense took over with seven goals. This is the second time that Arguello has been a part of a combined shutout, sharing the honor with Alek Greenleaf. Meanwhile, this is Birrueta’s first WISL Player Of The Week award.

Offense:

Tyler John (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – A big part of Tacoma’s seven goal outburst in the second half was Tyler John’s two goal performance, leading him to get the nod for WISL Offensive Player Of The Week. John scored twice in a five goal fourth quarter to put the game out of reach, but he also helped out with keeping the shutout intact, helping kill four power plays, including a two man down situation in the first quarter. This is the Bonney Lake native and Seattle U alum’s first WISL Player Of The Week award for the 2-0 Stars Reserves.
