STARS RE-SIGN VETERAN DEFENDER TROY PETERSON

by Pete Richmire

TACOMA, WA. - The Tacoma Stars have announced the return of Federal Way native Troy Peterson to the roster of defenders for the 2019-20 MASL season. As per league and team policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

During the 2018-19 campaign Peterson set a career-high in games played with 24 with the league’s expansion of the schedule. It was the second consecutive year that Peterson appeared in every Stars regular season match. In addition, he played in all five Tacoma playoff games during those seasons as well.

Peterson also set a career season-high mark in blocked shots last season with 30, a number which placed him in the league’s Top 10. His 11-point scoring total (4G-7A) in 2018-19 tied his best season offensively. In all, Peterson has suited up for the Stars and played in 87 games over five seasons and tallied 17 goals and 18 assists in his time with Tacoma.

Head Coach Nick Perera had this to say about Peterson’s return. “Troy Peterson is a Star through and through. He’s an integral part of this club on the field and off of it and has been improving every year. Troy defends well, he blocks, he tackles, and he’s very composed with the ball at his feet. He has a big part to play for the Stars this season in our efforts to build on last year, and I’m very excited he’ll be back!”

The Stars will play their Home Opener on Saturday, November 30th at 7:05pm. They will again play at their home arena, the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, WA. More information on tickets will be coming soon, but for now mark your calendars and join the Stars as they kick off another great season!
