Tacoma, WA -

The Tacoma Stars (7-10) and the Eastern Conference leading Florida Tropics (16-2) will complete their two-game set following Florida’s 8-7 overtime win against the Stars Thursday night. Florida comes into the game a perfect 5-0 against Western Conference teams while the Stars will be looking for their first win against the East in five tries.  The first game of the series was a back and forth battle eventually won by the Tropics on a power play goal from Ricardo Carvalho 27 seconds into overtime. Carvalho finished the match with two goals and an assist. Lamar Neagle led the way for Tacoma as he notched his first MASL career hat trick.

The Tropics lead their conference despite not having a player currently in the league’s Top 5 in points or goals. They do, however, have 10 players with 15+ points and a goalkeeper, Hugo Silva, with the MASL’s best goals against average (3.95) and in the Top 5 in save percentage (.724).

The team leader in goals is Mike Ramos with 25 through 17 games. He also has 13 assists which puts him second on the squad in offensive production. Alex Caceres (9G-11A) and Alessandro Canale (4G-8A) round out Tacoma’s top point producers.
