STARS LOOK FOR QUICK REBOUND IN KC TONIGHT

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Tacoma Stars (2-4) take the field tonight at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena against the Kansas City Comets (2-3) on a quick turnaround having lost last night in St. Louis 7-6 against the Ambush. This is Tacoma’s first meeting with the Comets since the Stars won a 7-6 decision on March 2, 2018 at the accesso ShoWare Center. The teams split a home and home series that year with Kansas City winning at home 7-5 three months earlier. The all-time series is tied 1-1.

Both teams are led by MASL top-five scorers, Kansas City’s Leo Gibson (6G-6A) and Tacoma’s Nick Perera (8G-7A). Tonight, is Kansas City will play their second home game of the season having won their only outing in front of the home fans 6-4 over their in-state rival St. Louis Ambush. 

Other Comets top-scorers include Kiel Williams (3G-4A), John Sosa (3G-1A), and Ray Saari (2G-2A). For the Stars, top point earners Mike Ramos (9G-1A) and Alex Caceres (4G-5A) round out their top three.

While Danny Waltman (2-4, 6.42 GAA, .648 save percentage) is the only Stars keeper to see action this season, the Comets have two netminders with multiple appearances. Steven Hamersky (1-0, 5.75, .723) and Mark Saxby (1-1, 4.13, .704) have both taken the pitch in goal for Kansas City.

This is the only meeting this season between Tacoma and Kansas City. The Stars’ next action will come January 4th and 5th when they swing through Texas to battle the Mesquite Outlaws and Dallas Sidekicks.

The Stars are on the road for the next two games before returning to the accesso ShoWare Center on Friday January 10, 2020 when they welcome Western Conference foe Turlock Cal Express to kick off the new year. Game time is 7:35 pm and you can get your tickets at tacomastars.showare.com today!
