TACOMA, WA. –  The Tacoma Stars (1-2-0) will close out 2023 with a pair of games in Southern California against the Empire Strykers (1-4-0) on Thursday, and in San Diego to face the Sockers (4-0-0) on Saturday. It will be the first meeting of the season against Empire and already the third time playing San Diego. The trend will continue with five of Tacoma’s next six games coming against these same two teams.

How does the Stars’ leading scorer and General Manager sum up the first three games of the season?

“The team has improved every match, and I’m really proud of the effort everyone has put in starting day one of preseason. The locker room is in a really good place, and the players are pouring themselves into the work of daily improvement. Only three games into a 24-game regular season, and it feels so good to be back in the thick of indoor soccer!”

Next up for Tacoma is an Empire team that has played four of their first five games on the road including trips to San Diego, Monterrey, and Chihuahua. Their lone win was an 8-7 victory in St. Louis earlier this month while Tacoma notched theirs at home against Baltimore on the 17th

The Empire team who will host the Stars on Thursday had arguably the busiest off-season in the MASL as their top statistical goalkeeper, scorer, defender, and the reigning Newcomer of the Year found different home teams for the 2023-24 seasons.

In exchange, new head coach Paul Wright installed veterans from around the league as he looks to improve a team that was eliminated from playoff contention in the last week of the previous two seasons.
