STARS KICK OFF SIX GAME ROAD SWING IN ONTARIO
Ontario, CA. – The Tacoma Stars (2-1) kick off a six-game road swing on Friday when they visit Toyota Arena to face the Ontario Fury (0-2). The same teams squared off last Sunday at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent with the Stars picking up the 8-5 win. This is the first of two trips Tacoma will make to the Inland Empire this season.
Last Sunday’s game was close through the first 45 minutes of play as the teams were knotted 3-3 heading into the 4th quarter. Tacoma outscored Ontario 5-2 in the final frame en route to the win. Seven different Tacoma players registered goals led by Mike Ramos with two in the match. Nick Perera led all scorers with 3 points (1G-2A) on the night.
Ontario spread their scoring out as well with five different players picking up goals. Evan McNeley and Justin Stinson topped the Fury roster in scoring with two points each.
In goal, veterans Danny Waltman (Tacoma) and Chris Toth (Ontario) are solid backstops though the statistical edge goes Waltman’s way early in the season. Toth is 0-2 after his team’s first pair of outings with a 5.25 goals against average and .706 save percentage.
Waltman, after three matches, is 2-1 with a 4.88 goals against average and .688 save percentage.
Both teams also play this Sunday with the Stars visiting San Diego and Ontario hosting the Turlock Cal Express.
Tacoma is in action twice for Week 5 of the MASL season beginning Friday December 20, 2019 when they make their first trip to Toyota Arena in Ontario to face the Fury at 7:35 pm. The trip continues south to Pachanga Arena San Diego on Sunday December 22 when the Stars take on the Sockers at 5:05 pm. Be sure to catch all the action on MASL.tv.
The Stars are on the road for the next six games before returning to the accesso ShoWare Center on Friday January 10, 2020 when they welcome Western Conference foe Turlock Cal Express to kick off the new year. Game time is 7:35 pm and you can get your tickets at tacomastars.showare.com.
