STARS IN KANSAS CITY FOR FIRST ROAD GAME OF THE SEASON

by Pete Richmire

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The Tacoma Stars (2-3) are in Missouri for their first road game of the 2021-22 MASL season. They will have their hands full as they take on the Kansas City Comets (7-1) at T-Mobile Center Saturday evening. The Comets are expecting the largest crowd of the MASL season so far as the game coincides with the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Kansas City.

This game will complete the home-and-home series between the teams and will be their final regular-season meeting. The Comets held off a furious Stars come-back attempt for an 8-7 win at the accesso ShoWare Center last Sunday. With the win, the Comets took a 5-3 all-time series advantage over the Stars.

After being ravaged by COVID the past two weeks, the Stars roster is beginning to return to a sense of normalcy though there is a new coach at the helm of the team. Tacoma has announced Adam Becker, formally an assistant coach, and head coach of the Stars Reserves, will be in command Saturday in Kansas City.

The main roster change compared to last Sunday’s game for Tacoma is the announcement that Adam West has been added to the squad. West has appeared in 35 games for the Stars, with six games played during the 2019-20 season. He is averaging over a point per game with 26 goals and 12 assists over those 35 games played.
