STARS HOST ONTARIO SUNDAY FOR TEDDY BEAR TOSS

by Pete Richmire

TACOMA, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (1-1) are set to embark on a six-game road trip, but before that happens, they will welcome the Ontario Fury (0-1) to the accesso ShoWare Center on Sunday evening in the annual Teddy Bear Toss Game. All stuffed animals tossed onto the field following the Stars’ first goal will go to benefit Toys for Tots. This will be the first of two trips Ontario will make to Kent this season.

Tacoma enters the match coming off a 5-4 overtime win in Turlock last Friday in which Adam West scored the game winner on an assist from Logan Jones with 2:54 to play in the extra period. It was West’s first goal of the season and Jones’ first career MASL point.

To go along with Jones’ milestone, Stars keeper Danny Waltman added one of his own as he notched MASL career save number 2,500 with his 13th save of the match. For the season Waltman posts a 1-1 record with 21 saves and 4.82 goals against average.

Ontario is coming off a season opening 4-2 loss to the Sockers in San Diego on Friday night. The Fury won the 2018-19 season series 3-2 over Tacoma, including two victories at the accesso ShoWare Center.

Many familiar players are returning to the Fury lineup including keeper Chris Toth, Jermaine Jones, and Franck Tayou. Topping the list of new additions to the visiting team is former Star, Joseph ‘The Jet’ Cairel.
