STARS GO FOR WEEKEND TEXAS SWEEP SUNDAY IN MESQUITE
Mesquite, TX. – The Tacoma Stars (7-8) will conclude their two-game road swing through Texas Sunday with their second visit to Mesquite Arena this season. The Stars won an 8-5 decision over the Outlaws (4-11) on January 4. Nick Perera notched four points (3G-1A) and Mike Ramos chipped in three (1G-2A) in the victory. Alex Megson added a pair of goals in the effort.
For Mesquite, it was Anthony Powell (2G-1A) and Oscar Romero (2G-0A) who had the best offensive output against the Stars in the first meeting between the teams. For the season, it’s Jamie Lovegrove who sets the scoring pace for the Outlaws with 19 points (13G-6A). VcMor Eligwe is second on the squad with 15 (10G-5A).
The Outlaws come into the match on a six-game skid, having last won on January 18 in Turlock. The Stars are on a two-game win streak including a 5-4 win in Dallas Saturday night.
Tacoma became the only MASL franchise with two players in the top five in scoring this season with Perera’s 38 points (19G-19A), and Ramos close behind with 37 (25G-12A). Alex Caceres is third on the team in production with 18 points (8G-10A) and Alessandro Canale is fourth with 10 (3G-7).
Danny Waltman continues to gain momentum in goal for Tacoma as the Stars solidify defensively. He brings a 7-8 record, 6.11 goals against average, and .636 save percentage into the match. His Mesquite counterpart, Eduardo Cortes, is 4-11, 5.63, and .675 respectively.
The Stars wrap up their two games in two days trip to Texas tomorrow in Mesquite where Tacoma will look to tame the Outlaws at 3:05 pm PST. You can catch all the action live on MASL.tv.
