Stars Edge Sidekicks For 4-3 Victory

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Stars (5-1) earned a 4-3 victory over the Dallas Sidekicks (0-4) on Friday night at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington.

Defender Adam West led the way for the Stars with a brace, scoring both goals in the third quarter. Forward Ty Hall and midfielder Duncan McCormick added solo goals to round out the Tacoma offensive effort. Goalkeeper Danny Waltman tallied 18 saves on 21 shots.

The lone goal of the first half came courtesy of Sidekicks defender Mike Jones 11 minutes into the second quarter, breaking a 0-0 tie and giving Dallas a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The Stars managed only two shots on goal in the first half, and Dallas out-shot Tacoma 15-8 (9-2 SOG).

Tacoma and Dallas combined for five goals in the third quarter, four of which came from the Stars. West’s pair of goals, separated by seven minutes, gave the Stars a 2-1 lead midway through the third quarter. An answer from Sidekicks forward Cameron Brown tied the game at 2-2, but goals from Hall and McCormick sent Tacoma into the final quarter with a 4-2 lead.

The Sidekicks final effort was a second goal from Brown just under six minutes into the final quarter. Both teams survived power plays in the final quarter and the Stars emerged on the other side with a 4-3 victory.

The Stars and Sidekicks finish off their weekend doubleheader with a match this Sunday, Dec. 6. First kick is scheduled for 3:05 p.m.
