Stars Drop Match With Sidekicks, 6-2

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Stars (5-2) dropped a home match with the Dallas Sidekicks (1-4) by a score of 6-2 on Sunday evening at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington.

Striker Derek Johnson and forward Dan Antoniuk accounted for the Stars only goals in the match. Tacoma goalkeeper Danny Waltman recorded six saves on 12 shots. The Stars out-shot the Sidekicks 36-16, including 19-12 in shots on goal.

Dallas jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Arthur Ivo and Cameron Brown in the third minute. Johnson cut the Sidekicks lead in half with his sixth goal of the season one minute later. Tacoma surrendered their first power play goal of the season with under a minute left in the opening quarter, pushing the Dallas lead out to 3-1.

Five minutes into the second quarter, a power play goal from the Sidekicks off the foot of Brown extended the Dallas lead to 4-1 heading into halftime.

Tacoma cut into the Dallas lead with a goal from Antoniuk six minutes into the second half, making the score 4-2 Sidekicks heading into the final quarter.

Ivo and Cody Ellis added a pair of goals in the fourth quarter for the Sidekicks to seal a 6-2 victory for Dallas, their first win of the season.

The Stars hit the road for a four-game road trip beginning with a match against the Missouri Comets on Friday, Dec. 11. First kick is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
