Tacoma, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (3-6) return to the accesso ShoWare Center Friday January 10 to host the Turlock Cal Express (3-4). The Stars just completed a six-game road stretch which saw the team post a 1-5 record. The positive side of the extended road swing is Tacoma will now play seven of its next nine games in front of the home fans.

The Stars lead the season series with Turlock 1-0 after their only meeting on December 6 at Turlock Indoor Soccer. Tacoma picked up a 5-4 overtime win when Adam West knocked in the winning goal with 2:34 left in the extra frame. Mike Ramos and Alex Cacares each had two goals for the Stars in the game. The Cal Express received goals from Adrian Pulido, Arturo Pulido, Gerardo Jurado, and Adrian Gutierrez.

For the season, the Stars and MASL are led in scoring by Perera’s 23 points (12G-11A). Ramos is second on the team (12G-3A) with Caceres (5G-6A) rounding out players with 10+ points. Danny Waltman is the lone goalkeeper to log playing time for Tacoma and brings a 3-6 record, 6.38 goals against average, and .643 save percentage into the match.

Gutierrez is Turlock’s leading offensive player with 11 points (4G-7A) and Juan Manuel Rojo (7G-3A) is a close second. Jurardo is tied for the team lead in goals scored with seven.

Tacoma wins the special teams battle with their 50% power play rate and sitting 56% on the penalty kill compared to Turlock’s 21% and 17% respectively. After this matchup, the teams will complete their season series on February 7 when Turlock returns to the accesso ShoWare Center.
