STARS BATTLE TURLOCK IN FIRST ROAD GAME OF SEASON
TACOMA, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (0-1) travel for their first road game of the 2019-20 MASL season to face the Turlock Cal Express (2-0) Friday night at Turlock Indoor Soccer. Last season the Stars swept Turlock during the regular season posting a 5-0 record including three wins on the Cal Express home pitch. Tacoma outscored the Cal Express 51-21 in those games.
2019-20 has started off on a solid note for Turlock, having posted two wins to kick off the campaign. Both were one-goal victories, first a 6-5 decision at home against Kansas City followed by a 7-6 win in San Diego versus the Sockers. San Diego rebounded to defeat Tacoma at the accesso ShoWare Center last Saturday, 7-3 in front of 3,191 fans for the Stars’ season opener.
Turlock is led offensively by Adrian Gutierrez’s six points (2G-4A) and Juan Manuel Rojo with five (4G-1A). The Cal Express defense has been tough in front of keeper Edgar Martinez in the first two matches with only 25 shots on goal for opponents.
In Tacoma’s opener, three different Stars tallied goals. Alessandro Canale, Mike Ramos, and Nick Perera all found the back of the net for Tacoma. Tacoma trailed San Diego 3-2 after a tough first half but the Sockers pulled away in the final 30 minutes to defeat the Stars 7-3.
This is Tacoma’s only trip to Turlock Indoor Soccer during the regular season. The Cal Express will travel to Tacoma with matches in January and February to close out the season series.
The Stars are on the road Friday December 6th when they battle the Turlock Cal Express at 7:05 pm and you can catch all the action live on MASL.tv.
