STARS BACK IN ACTION FRIDAY VS ONTARIO AT SHOWARE
Tacoma, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (3-6) return to action this Friday at 7:35 pm when the Ontario Fury (5-4) make their first of two appearances at the Accesso ShoWare Center this season. This game is the front end of a home and home series with Ontario who sit two games ahead of the Stars in the MASL Pacific Division. The two teams will meet again on Thursday January 11 in Ontario.
Friday will be the first opportunity to see the two newest Stars as local player Eddie Na and former Syracuse Silver Knight Nick Perera will make their Stars debuts. Perera comes to Tacoma with four goals and two assists in three games for Syracuse.
When asked about his newest roster members Stars Head Coach Darren Sawatzky said "Nick represents a veteran target with a bit of bite to his game. I like the way he plays and we needed a player with his skill set. Eddie is a young player growing with each training. We are proud to develop and keep local talent in our team that represents the northwest and Eddie has earned the opportunity."
The arrival of Perera should be a boost to the Stars who come in the match with a -11 goal differential, averaging just under five goals a game. The Stars are led offensively by Joey Gjertsen and Philip Lund’s eight points each. Leonardo de Oliveira leads the way for Ontario with 19 points (10G, 2A).
Friday is Tacoma Stars Beanie Night presented by Sound Credit Union. The first 1,500 fans through the doors receive a Stars beanie.
