STARS ACQUIRE EVAN McNELEY AHEAD OF TRADE DEADLINE

Tacoma, WA. – The Major Arena Soccer League trade deadline passed at 5 pm PST Thursday and the Tacoma Stars completed a last-minute deal. In an exchange for future considerations, the Stars are bringing defender Evan McNeley back to Tacoma from the Ontario Fury.

McNeley has appeared in nine games for the Fury this season with nine points on six goals and three assists. He has been a key member the Fury special teams as well as defense with three power play goals to his credit.

McNeley, a Bellevue native and Seattle University alumnus, last played for the Stars in 2017-18 appearing in 23 games including all three playoff matches that season. McNeley has suited up for three MISL Championship teams, first for the Monterrey La Raza (2009-10) and twice with the Milwaukee Wave (2011-12, 2012-13).

Head Coach Nick Perera highlighted the importance of bringing Evan McNeley back to the club: “Evan is someone Stars fans and players know and love. He brings tremendous experience, he’s a leader, and he’s a unique player who can help us at both ends of the field. Bringing Evan back was a priority for us all, and I’m very excited to see his contributions on the field and in the locker room. Welcome back Evan!”

The Stars conclude their homestand Friday February 7 when they welcome the Turlock Cal Express to the accesso ShoWare Center as the teams face off for the final time this season.
