PETE'S GAME PREVIEW: ONTARIO VISITS TACOMA TONIGHT

Tacoma, WA. – The Tacoma Stars (4-6) are set to battle the Ontario Fury (2-7) for the third time this campaign with the season series even at one win apiece. This is Ontario’s second trip to the accesso ShoWare Center with the first ending in an 8-5 win for the Stars on December 15. This will be the second time the Fury suit up this week dropping a 7-5 decision to Monterrey at home on Thursday. Ontario has had a rough time on the road this season, coming into tonight’s match with an 0-5 record away from Toyota Arena.


In the season series, scoring is tied at 15-15 despite Tacoma outshooting Ontario 66-37 through two meetings. Nick Perera leads Tacoma offensively against the Fury with eight points (4G-4A) while Franck Tayou’s six points (6G-0A) is tops versus the Stars.

Overall for the season, Perera is second in the MASL in scoring with 25 points (12G-13A) with Mike Ramos (13G-4A) and Alex Careres (7G-8A) rounding out the Stars leading scorers.

After an uncharacteristic slow start in his first two games in which he picked up two points, Tayou leads the Fury roster with 22 points (19G-3A) through eight total matches. Justin Stimson is the only other player on Ontario’s roster with double digit production with 13 points (9G-4A).


In goal for the teams, Tacoma’s Danny Waltman brings a 4-6 record, 6.14 goals against average, and .653 save percentage against Ontario’s Chris Toth. Toth is 2-5, 6.35, and .687 respectively. The teams will conclude their season series on March 7 at Toyota Arena in Ontario.
