TACOMA, WA. – The MASL post season awards continued Friday with the naming of Tacoma Stars player-coach Nick Perera to the First Team All-MASL. In addition to that honor, Perera has also been nominated for the league’s Most Valuable Player award which will be announced Saturday afternoon at the MASL Ron Newman Cup Press Conference ahead of Sunday’s Championship game between Milwaukee and Monterrey.

During the 2018-19 season, Perera led the league in scoring with 80 points (39G-41) which was 16 points ahead of the player in second place. His 41 assists were also the league’s top mark and he finished third in goals scored. Perera appeared in all 24 regular season games for Tacoma and put together a 3.3 points per game average, also best in the MASL.

In his 36 regular season games in a Stars kit Perera has amassed 110 points on 59 goals and 51 assists. He has played in all five Stars playoff games over that span as well, totaling four goals to go with an assist.

When Perera is not busy leading the team in scoring he stays busy as the team’s head coach after taking over the duty in December 2018 following the departure of Darren Sawatzky. During the regular season Perera was also named to the MASL Team of the Week for weeks one and seven.
