JAMAEL ‘JUICE’ COX RE-SIGNS WITH THE STARS

by Pete Richmire

TACOMA, WA. – The Stars have announced the retention of Jamael ‘Juice’ Cox for the 2023-24 season after re-signing the midfielder to a new contract. Per league and team policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Cox, a Tacoma native and Stadium High School graduate where he was a four-year first-team All-Narrows League player, will be in his 10th season with the Stars. Last season was one of his best statistically as he set career highs in games played (18), goals (18), assists (7), and shots blocked (10). He also added two assists in the Stars’ playoff game against Mesquite at the accesso ShoWare Center last April.

His speed and movement with the ball make him a threat to defenders while both setting up a play or finishing with a shot from any point of the offensive zone.

“Jamael is one of the most electric and effective midfielders in this sport and I am so excited that we will continue to see him displaying his incredible talents with the Stars,” said Stars’ General Manager Nick Perera.

The effectiveness pointed out by Perera has led to nearly a point-per-game average for his entire time in the MASL. For his career, Cox has 111 points on 74 goals and 37 assists in 112 regular-season games with Tacoma. He has also notched three goals and five assists in eight playoff games for the Stars.

The schedule is not expected to be out until fall, but fans can lock in their seat to every minute of Tacoma Stars soccer at www.tacomastars.com/season-tickets.
