DEREK “EL TIGRE” JOHNSON RETURNING TO STARS

by Pete Richmire

TACOMA, WA – As the work on the Tacoma Stars roster for the 2018-19 Major Arena Soccer League season continues, the team announced today that midfielder Derek “El Tigre” Johnson will be returning under contract. Johnson appeared in 12 games last season for the Stars picking up seven points (4G-3A).

In his career with Tacoma, Johnson has racked up 63 points (42G-21A) in 59 regular season contests. He added a goal in two playoff games during the 2015-16 season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Darren Sawatzky, Head Coach and General Manager, said, “Derek is a goal scorer and we will look to him to get back on that horse in 2018-2019.  His production over the past few years has been good, and we see him hammering home some more burners in the onion bag this winter.”

The Stars are back December 1st with a schedule which has been expanded over last season. Tacoma is set to host 12 regular-season matches.
