TACOMA, WA. - The Stars have announced the re-signing of veteran midfielder Derek Johnson to a new agreement ahead of the 2019-20 MASL season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per league and team policy.

Johnson, a Tacoma native and Pacific Lutheran University alum, will begin his sixth season with the team when the Stars get underway in November. He appeared in 14 regular season games for Tacoma in 2018-19 picking up three goals and a pair of assists. In 76 career games for the Stars Johnson has tallied 69 points on 46 goals and 23 assists.

Head coach Nick Perera said this about Johnson’s signing. “Derek exemplifies effort, sacrifice and dedication to improvement. He can score goals and his work rate is unmatched. The organization as a whole is excited Derek is coming back!”

Stars pre-season friendlies kick off in September! Mark your calendars to be at the Tacoma Soccer Center on Saturday September 14 and 21 as the Stars battle the Tacoma Stars Reserves and Narrows FC. Both games start at 7:00 pm.
