STARS USL LEAGUE TWO MAKES COACHING CHANGE, NICK PERERA NAMED HEAD COACH

by Pete Richmire

TACOMA, WA. – The Tacoma Stars have made a coaching change for the USL League Two squad, effective immediately. While Adam Becker and Steve Mohn remain on the technical staff, Nick Perera will replace Liviu Bird as the team’s head coach.

In addition to this new role, Perera serves as the General Manager of the Tacoma Stars organization as well as Coach and leading scorer for the Major Arena Soccer League Stars squad. His play has earned him multiple MASL MVP Awards.

The Stars are looking to snap a four-game skid today against Midlakes United at Bellarmine Memorial Field with a 6 pm kickoff.

Tacoma is currently in third place in the Northwest Division of League Two, trailing Ballard FC and United PDX in the standings. The top two teams advance to the playoffs following the regular season, in which the Stars have four matches remaining to play.

Ballard FC leads the division, but the Stars are 1-0-1 against the reigning National Champions. Tacoma found themselves at the top of the table before the current skid.

To make the playoffs, the Stars need to at least pass United PDX, a team they trail by three points and give a game in hand to.

Following tonight’s match, the Stars close out their home schedule against Capital FC Atletico next Sunday at 4 pm. Tickets to both games are available at www.linktr.ee/tacomastars.
